FOOD 4 LIFE Menus will follow our Food 4 Life Guidelines which limit processed foods, ban trans-fats, incorporate more fresh ingredients and educate students on healthy eating.
MENU CHOICES (review below/update) For the first two weeks, the monthly menu will include only one entrée choice for all students. As the
weeks continue, the menu will include two entrée choices for all students. Options will vary depending on the season. In the spring, students might choose from a hot entrée and a gourmet salad or a cold sandwich.
SALAD/FOOD BAR To help encourage students to eat a well-balanced lunch, we will offer a Fruit & Vegetable Bar. Each day students may choose from fresh or canned fruits and fresh vegetables as part of their complete meal.
MEAL PRICE The meal price will be $3.00 for K-6th grade students and $3.50 for 7th-12th grade students. This includes an entrée and selections from the Salad/Food Bar.
August 2010 Chef-Prepared Meals will be prepared at Taher’s production kitchen in Plymouth, utilizing more fresh ingredients and less processed foods in our recipes. Taher will assist Legacy Christian Academy in improving student wellness by offering students more daily choices of fruits and vegetables. We also will feature: Self Serve Fruit & Vegetable Bar, Choice of healthy daily entrée selections, Harvest of the Month with a spotlight fruit, vegetable, and herb/legume and Nutrition display boards and fact sheets displayed each month. Exposing children to more healthy food choices is the most important lesson in proper nutrition.
